Parent Responsibilities for School Attendance
Any absence due to illness, death in the family, religious observance, or other circumstance, must be reported to the office by 9:45 a.m. the day of the absence by the parent/guardian. If the parent/guardian fails to notify the office by 10:00 a.m., an automated dialer will attempt to call the parent at home and at work to verify the absence (according to board policy).
To report a student absence before or after school hours, call the school attendance line and leave your message. Please include student name, grade, teacher, reason for absence and identity of caller.
If no contact is made to the school within 24 hours of the start of the absence, the absence will be considered truancy.
Absences due to illness lasting 10 or more consecutive days may require a doctor's clearance upon returning to school.
Early Release from the School Day
In order to have a child released early from school, a parent/guardian must come to the office and sign the student out. Parents are not to go to the child's classroom; instead the child will be called to the office.
Students will only be released to a parent or designated representative (must be in writing). This is for the protection of all students. When signing out a student early from the school day, the parent or guardian must sign out the student before the student will be called to the office.
Tardiness
Students are considered tardy if they are not sitting in their seat at 8:45 a.m. If your child is late for school, he/she must report to the office before reporting to the classroom. When a student is tardy, a parent must accompany the child to the front office. If a student is tardy three times without an excuse, the office will contact the student's parents.
