About Our School
The learning environments are productive and safe for children. Desert Shadows has an award winning school-wide PBIS program in place that remains fair and consistent for all students on campus. We also strive in the educational tool to assists students in building character in the areas of responsibility, fairness, citizenship, caring, trustworthiness and respect.
Our Classes
We offer special area classes including P.E., Music, Art, and Suzuki Strings. Our 4th-6th graders have the option as well to do Band, Strings, or continue Suzuki Strings. All PreK-3rd grade students take Suzuki strings, and we are the only school in Arizona to offer PreK-6th grade Suzuki Strings. Our teachers and students have access to 1:1 technology carts (touchscreen laptops) to use in their classrooms with several classrooms having touchscreen whiteboards. Students can participate on campus through Community Education in sports club, drama, chess, engineering, dance, & creative arts. Furthermore, our school continues to be on the cutting edge of education and STEAM as classes routinely utilize our fully interactive Lu System and Makers Space with two 3-D printers, microscopes, and 3-D pens.
Desert Shadows Elementary School is proud of the quality of education students receive and the positive learning climate of the school. The school is known for its exceptional staff and students and is a superb place to learn.
Our Students
Students are challenged to learn and achieve through large group, small group, and individual instruction. Our teachers cognitively engage students in learning on a daily basis. One-hundred percent of our teachers are highly qualified and appropriately certified, many of whom have a master's degree or higher, and several who are or are in the process of becoming National Board Certified Teachers.
Desert Shadows is more than just an elementary school; we are a community. Through education and activities for all, families are brought together throughout the school year.
