Family Involvement
Community Events and Restaurant Nights
Desert Shadows Elementary is a community focused school, and we are always looking for ways to bring our families and community together. Our PTA and School hosts numerous events throughout the year. These include:
- BINGO Night
- Literacy Night
- Trunk or Treat
- Concerts and Performances
- STEAM Night
- Talent Show
- Beautification/Love Our Schools Day
- Valentine's Day Dance
- Spring Carnival
- STEAM Job Fair
- Sky Zone Nights
- Restaurant Nights
Local businesses happily support Desert Shadows Elementary, too. Several times a year, we host restaurant nights. When your family brings their school flyer advertising the restaurant night and dine, the restaurant donates a percentage of your bill to our school, usually 15 to 20 percent.
Friday Sales
On Fridays after school, look for treats like Rita's Italian Ice for sale on the Desert Shadows Elementary front lawn. Our school receives a percentage back on these purchases, usually 15 percent. A treat for you is also a treat for us!
Fry's Community Rewards
Simply link your Fry's V.I.P. card to Desert Shadows Elementary School to begin earning for our school. Every time you shop using your Fry's V.I.P. card we will earn rewards. To register your V.I.P. card, go to Fry's website and search "Community Rewards Program". Our organization number is 80503.
PTA Fundraisers
Our Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) sponsors fundraisers annually that benefit our students, teachers and staff. These fundraisers may change from year-to-year, but look for fundraisers that provide a means for an open donation or fundraisers where you can purchase products while benefiting our school at the same time.
There are numerous opportunities for families and community members to support Desert Shadows Elementary School. Look for excellent programs like Box Tops that are great ways to earn money for our school without spending any extra of your own money. Please contact the school office or any PTA representative for further information.
United Parent Council (UPC)
UPC is a district-wide parent group that has been active in Paradise Valley Unified School District for more than 30 years and is a 501(c)(3) organization. Looking out for the interest of students is our primary goal. We do this by offering parents support, information, and opportunities to be influential voices in the decisions that affect their children's education.
