More at Desert Shadows

The Desert Shadows Elementary visual arts curriculum was created to inspire students to recognize and enhance their individual abilities and technical skills. Our program will also focus on cultural differences and demonstrate the importance and impact that art has had on the history of the world.

Students will utilize a wide array of mixed media, including clay, oil pastels, paints (watercolor, acrylic, and tempera), printing tools and a variety of other resources. The Desert Shadows art curriculum is designed to follow and meet the Arizona State Visual Arts Standards. We believe at Desert Shadows that the arts are essential to the growth and personal expression of our students.

Chorus

All interested 4-6th graders are invited to join our chorus program. Chorus rehearsals are before school throughout the 1st semester of each school year, meeting in the music room at 8am. Students are released to the playground before the first bell. The chorus group will perform numerous times throughout the semester. The chorus program is lead by our vocal teacher.

Note: There is a small fee for this program.

Homework Lab

This class is held Monday through Thursday each week, unless otherwise noted, from 3:20 - 4:20 p.m. on site at DSES. Students are asked to use the hour for homework completion, and/or to receive extra assistance as needed. This program is lead by a few teaching staff members at DSES.

Note: There is a fee for this program.
